Lately I have been thinking about 3-ring albums. Besides by very first scrapbook album, all my albums have been post-bound albums. One reason is because when I started getting serious about scrapbooking I was 17 I did think about online shopping (since I did not have a credit card) or think of how large the scrapbook community actually was. I would just go to Michaels and all of my Michaels mostly carry post-bounds. Then I was introduced to Creative Memories by an ex-boyfriends mom.
Now that I actually think about it, I really hate Creative Memories albums. CM is expensive! Buying albums, then CM's own pages and then page protectors adds up quickly! The pages get covered up as I do LO's on separate paper... Just doesn't make sense to me anymore. Not to mention the annoying task when having to put the pages in due to the strap hinges. It is not simple. Another annoyance is that I have ripped some page protectors while trying to put them on. I dislike side-loading page protectors, not to mention I have had protectors wrinkle and crinkle while they were being stored.
Anyways, I have made a decision. I am going to start making albums using American Crafts 3-d ring scrapbook albums and We Are Memory Keepers page protectors. Red for travel and patterned for special events!
Now with my OCD, I am wanting to switch all my CM albums to AC albums. As a chronological scrapbooker, I have became frustrated over the albums. Since I rediscovered top loading albums, it is like a light bulb has been turned on. For my CM pages where photos are actually adhered, I think I am just going to trim off the edges. LOs where the pages are stuck to the CM pages, I'll just use a flat tool I have and take off the LOs.
This task may be tedious and risky but I think I am up for the challenge.
I am going to make the switch!

I made the switch last year to the 3 ring AC albums and I LOVE them! You can add in sooo many more pages. They are just easier for me and they are great b/c my littles look through them all the time.
ReplyDeleteI switched to AC 3-ring albums about 5 years ago and it was the BEST thing I ever did. It just makes like so much easier! And I love how they look on the shelf, lined up. :)
ReplyDeleteI just switched to D-ring after my favorite albums have become unavailable. I LOVED the Westrim strap-hinge with their top-loading protectors and had used them for almost 10 years. Recently, I ordered a couple of We R Memory Keeper albums, but might try the Am. Crafts ones too and choose which I like best.
ReplyDeleteI much prefer the ring binders, so much easier :). Good luck with the switchover
